From Volunteering to Everyday Responsibility: Cultivating a Cleanliness Ethic

This letter aims to highlight a crucial aspect of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Campaign). While the initiative’s launch and public participation were commendable, it is essential to address the issue of intermittent cleanliness efforts. Merely dedicating one day to cleaning public places does not suffice. We must instill a moral duty in our younger generation, teaching them that keeping our surroundings clean is an ongoing responsibility. By imparting this ethos, we can nurture a culture where the youth proactively engage in maintaining cleanliness, inspiring others to follow suit. Let’s shift the focus from occasional clean-ups to a sustainable mindset where cleanliness becomes a natural part of our daily lives.
